NFL Week 10 Picks

I’ll spare you the boring introduction and get down to business. It’s becoming a trend now. Oh, and I’m already starting at 0-1 thanks to the Ravens losing Thursday night. 7 plays, 84 yards in like 40 seconds. CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENSE FOLKS!

Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills

I would pick the Lions but I think the Bills are LONG overdue for their first win of the season. Plus, no Matthew Stafford (poor guy can’t catch a break) and Shaun Hill still hurt will make things difficult for them. Only real chance they have is if Jahvid Best can things going on the ground. Likewise, the Bills need to keep things going on offense if they want to win this game. It’s probably their best chance to win so far this year.

Pick: Bills

Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears

I don’t care about how old Brett Favre is or that Childress is on borrowed time right now, I am not sold on the Bears at all this year and I think the Vikings will win this game. That front four against the Bears offensive line is going to be a nightmare. Predicting most of the points in this game come off turnovers.

New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns

I don’t know how the Browns pulled off their last two upsets but I think they will come crashing down to Earth this week but still put up a good fight against the Jets. It seems like a perfect trap game, really. Just like the last two games for the Browns.  If they can pull three upsets in a row, then I’ll pick the Browns for the next three weeks.

Pick: Jets

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts

Colts will rebound after that Philly loss last week. I’ve stated my feelings on how I don’t think the Bengals will be going that far this year and they’ll continue to sink further down this week. They simply make too many mistakes.

Pick: Colts

Tennessee Titans vs. Miami Dolphins

Kerry Collins vs. Chad Pennington. Hello 2004 matchup of the week. I think the Titans have the edge in this game since the Dolphins secondary is pretty easy to exploit (and it should since they just signed Al Harris) and the Titans have a new favorite weapon in Randy Moss. Collins was good at getting the ball to Britt on deep passes and I see no reason why he can’t do it with Moss. Chris Johnson has to be licking his chops now that teams wont be stacking the box on every down too.

Pick: Titans

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Consider this my “final thoughts” post I was supposed to do earlier. This game’s got bad news written all over it for Carolina. Three running backs out on an already weak offense spells trouble and Clausen has yet to prove he can be a good QB in the NFL. Add that with the weak pass rush and the ability the Bucs have to extend drives then that pretty much equates a loss for the Panthers. Sad to say. If they do win it’ll be something like 14-9

Pick: Bucs

Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

I dont know…this has “Texans chokejob” written all over it and they always seem to lose games to division opponents. I’m a little wary about picking them with how good the Jags looked a couple weeks ago but Houston really needs this win. Plus, the Jags secondary is awful and Schaub should be able to pick them apart.

Pick: Texans

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos

Chiefs should have this. Broncos can not stop the run at all and they’ll be going against one of the strongest tandems in the league.

Pick: Chiefs

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Time for the rematch already? Cowboys are usually crushed at the Meadowlands no matter how either team is doing so I think the G-Men have it. Sorry Dallas fans, it’s not going to be a pretty one.

Pick: Giants

Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

Ugh, my instincts tell me to go with the home team in all AFC West matchups but the Cards are a goddamn mess and so are the Seahawks. Hasselbeck being back should help the Seahawks a little bit. Emphasis on the word “little” so I think that gives them the edge over the Cardinals. They just can’t turn the ball over since that’s where most of the Cardinals points are from this season.

Pick: Seahawks

St. Louis Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

Slowly getting on the Sam Bradford bandwagon and on the Rams bandwagon in general. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them win the West this season and this will hopefully be a huge win along that way. Oh wait, they’re the road team. Fuck it, I’m still picking them.

Pick: Rams

New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Pats got crushed by the Browns because they were looking forward to playing the Steelers and focusing on them more. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it. Steelers don’t have the secondary personnel to keep up with all of the targets Brady has at his disposal. Troy can’t do it all on his own and there’s been plenty of times where Ike Taylor and Bryant McFadden have been taken advantage of. See the Saints and Ravens games.

Pick: Patriots

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins

I’m leaning towards the Eagles here because they beat the Colts while the Redskins are having a sudden “QB controversy” and are back to being a circus. There’s just the thought lingering in my mind that the Eagles defense isn’t that great and it might cause them to lose this week. There’s also the thought that the Redskins are still dysfunctional and that Grossman incident will send them spiraling into mediocrity for the rest of the season. That or the Eagles will win this game and it’ll be a thriller. Hopefully Vick plays the whole game this time.

Pick: Eagles
